Your RV has climbed over mountains, journeyed through valleys and navigated towards the horizon for days on end and now it’s time that you do something for your trusted voyager.

The only way to avoid unexpected problems both on the road and off is to have your motorhome serviced regularly including both preventive and scheduled maintenance.

Here at Outdoor Travel we provide several maintenance plans specially designed for your motorhome including water leak testing, seasonal safety checks, coach lube, engine and generator service, wheel bearing and running gear services and anything else you many want done on your RV.

Each of these things are imperative for smooth, worry-free journeys. Let’s take a closer look into why a few of these routines are so important to your motorhome:

Leak Test

We hope for sunny weather but there are some days where Mother Nature isn’t on our side. Wet weather can cause unexpected leaks that appear out of nowhere and often cause major damage if gone undetected. Many owners are unaware that their warranty requires roof seals inspection and service of their RV every 6 months for it to remain valid. That is where we come in. The process begins by pressurizing your coach with all the doors and windows closed. We then spray the exterior with a soapy water solution monitoring bubbles that might appear indicating a leaks. With the pressure inside pushing out, we can easily find any broken seals that may be hiding in your RV and take action to prevent leak damage. Afterwards we can insure that your home-on-wheels will be safe from any weather Mother Nature might throw your way. We also have tests that can detect leaks sonically.

Seasonal Safety Check

There are countless things to remember when you’re planning your next journey and even though we all know how important safety is, it might not always be your first priority. That is why we make it ours. We encourage our customers to come in seasonally and have us preform this necessary preventive maintenance safety routine. We conduct a propane leak check and ensure that all appliances are functioning for performance and free of carbon monoxide. We also check tire pressures for safety and fuel economy.

Coach Lube

We all deserve a little pampering once in a while and your motorhome is no exception. Having your RV lubed regularly will allow it to perform at its best 100% of the time. Because most RVs mechanical systems are driven by motors they can start to stick, bind and have to work harder if lubrication is ignored. So we take the time to go through your unit and lubricate the steps, compartments, locks, awning and hinges. This process will keep everything running smoothly as it should to prevent wear and reduce the chances of breakdowns.

Engine & Generator Service

The last thing you want is to be sitting by the side of the road when you should be roasting marshmallows on a blazing bonfire. Since oil is a vital part of your engine, without regular cleanings dirt will accumulate and the oil will stop lubricating causing the engine to quickly wear and fail. To ensure that you protect your RV investment and arrive safely at your destination we recommend that you have your oil changed and filters checked every 5,000 KMs or every 6 months. Furthermore, a new generator should be looked at after its first 50 hours of running than afterwards every 100 hours or every 3 months.

And don’t forget your wheel bearings and running gear! If you drive a motorhome your calipers, brakes and bearings should be serviced yearly. But if you tow a trailer, get your wheel bearings serviced every 1 -2 years.
